State Government of India announces subsidy for using Solar Water Heater
India is blessed with sun light in many areas of country. The Indian government is promoting the use of solar energy by giving subsidies. In a state of Uttar Pradesh the state government has launched a scheme to lure people in using solar water heater in their home and buildings. The Uttar Pradesh government has announced subsidy for using solar water heater system.
The government officials have announced that the government will give subsidy of Rs. 6,000 for using Flat Plate Collectors (FPC) and Rs. 5,000 for Evacuated Tube Collectors (ETC) for domestic use. The scheme will be carried out through state government nodal agency for renewable energy Non-conventional Energy Development Agency (NEDA).
The project manager at NEDA told in a conference that this kind of subsidy has been introduced for that first time. The main purpose of this subsidy is to promote solar water heater as alternative option for heating water and this is an economical viable option, because the electricity cost is increasing. The scheme will accept 1000 applications. He also added that it has become necessary for buildings, schools, home etc. to install solar water heaters.
A solar expo was held in city which shows various solar water heating systems and other solar energy products. It is necessary to encourage people to use alternative sources of energy, considering the fact that fuel prices are skyrocketing and we have limited source.

Finland needs more Nuclear Power to fill new target.
The government of Finland has set a target to raise use of renewable energy from 29 percent to 38 percent of output to meet European Union goals 2020. The energy strategy will go to parliament next week.
The minister of economic affairs said in a conference is that currently the goal is to produce enough electricity for domestic use. The government has called for more use of wood energy, waste fuels, heat pumps, and biogas and wind energy to meet the goal. The government of Finland wants to contribute their share of using renewable energy and for that they will need more nuclear power.
Finland focuses on building zero-emission or low emission plants, wind and hydro power plants for coming years. In addition to that the government also urges people to use energy efficient appliances in house and construction. The Confederation of Finnish Industries has accepted the goal of energy self-sufficiency, but they said the government’s capacity to meet the future demand was not possible.
Finland’s fifth nuclear reactor is now delayed and expected to be online in 2012. The environmental group is saying parliament should take the decision on extra nuclear power. The strategy includes measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions as well as increase energy efficiency and renewable energy targets.
